OkMalumKoolKat- Internet Jetset Super

OkMalumKoolKat teamed up with Fader x Sprite to release a solo project for the campaign Obey You. As always he delivers something fresh, local, strange and entertaining.

He has this to say about the project which he fully produced: "I had just got back from the festive holiday from my hometown of Durban, where I just couldn’t escape the sounds of Gqom’ and the lifestyle that came with it. Naturally, that influence loomed heavily on the production but I wanted to give it a Primustof twist so that was that. Finally writing music fro a dancer's/ listener’s/ party animal’s angle".

He is the future of South African hip-hop. Get with it.

Up and coming local designers

So apart from Anees Petersen of Young & Lazy which one half of us is dating and the other half is really fond of there are now some new Cape Town designers who made an impression at their grad shows.
So because we're all about local, we thought we'd feature their pretty impressive work.
SUPPORT LOCAL PEOPLE!

First and foremost Nicholas Coutts, who since winning the Elle award is probs the most famous person in Cape Town, or at least Hudsons.

Photographer: Ian Engelbrecht
Model: Veda, Boss Models

In case you didn't yet know his famous face

Renee Nicole Sander is another name to watch, she apparently also snatched up every award and her final collection was absolutely STUNNING.

Photographer: Kent Andreasen
Models: Ella Jayne Bailey &  Janke du Toit

She's also quite a babe herself, casually.

And finally one of our favourite boys in this town, firstly because he is probably the happiest and sweetest boy we know but also cause he's DAMN good.
Lukhanyo Mdingi can we get ourselves some of these please?!

I MEAN JUST LOOK AT HIM

We are so happy and proud to be a part of this city where there's SO much local talent. And it seems to only be getting better.
Can't wait to be able to pruchase some of these guys' items.

WELL DONE!!

W.A.T.E.R SHOT! PROMO

One of our besties has just up and left us and moved to Copenhagen in search of money and the perfect blonde hair, blue-eyed man (with money).
We are left sad and lonely without Jane so in her memory here is a video she half shot/half starred in for Cioccolato Seruno's brand W.A.T.E.R SHOT!

Dark Arrow- Cave Swoon ft Push Push & Comfy Hammocks

By now you should all know this guy (Marc)

And if not for the fact that he once tried to pour Jagermeister down your throat, then maybe cause he raps under 30 different names/groups but has recently launched what promises to be some of the most interesting music coming out of Cape Town:
oh!dark arrow
seriously just go listen to his shit here

Last week he finally collaborated with BMK's First Lady Nicci St Bruce (just stare at this picture for awhile till your eyes water)

Nicci has been writing raps since she was 9 (early bloomer in rapping, late bloomer in other things) and then procrastinated 100000 years but is now finally ready to be heard as Push Push.
And trust me when it comes to her, you want to keep track of what she releases cause judging by the private performances I've gotten this promises to be GOOD. And not white girl who;s into hip-hop good, I mean actually good.

And because no party is a party without Cape Town's favourite Jew we have Jake Lipman featuring as Comfy Hammocks

Listen to Cave Swoon here and be converted.

THE FROWN- METALLIC KISS

Joburg's favourite musical outfit, The Frown, have released their new music video, and it is all triangles, high-waisted everything, and hipsters dancing in space. The track is lo-fi, dancefloor nostalgia, swept along by Front-Vixen Eve Rakow's hypnotic, ethereal vocals, and dotted with sexy, gyrating bodies wrapped in very cool fashion by Asseblief Vintage. This gem was filmed by the notorious Justin Mcgee, and all the design, animation and editing was done by Cool Your Jets. Enjoy!

Check out The Frown's facebook page here and hit them upon twitter here.
